Joseph G. Michnisky, 84, of East Windsor died Friday, June 30th at Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center at Hamilton, Hamilton, NJ. Born in Hightstown he was an area resident his entire life.
Joseph was a Marine veteran of the Korean War where he proudly served. After graduating Hightstown High School, he served 15 years as a Police Officer with the Hightstown Police Dept. He was later hired as the first Chief of Police for the East Windsor Police Dept. where he served for 20 years. From 1986 – 1999 Joseph was owner & proprietor of The Barrel Inn in Hamilton Township. He was an active member of the American Legion, VFW, P.B.A., International Chiefs Association & the N.J. Chiefs of Police Association and St. Anthony of Padua RC Church, Hightstown. In addition to his service to all of these organizations he was also an avid fisherman who enjoyed his shore house in Mystic Island with his children and grandchildren and also golfing at Gambler’s Ridge golf course.
Predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Rose (Frietag) and sister, Mae Cummings, he is survived by his wife of 62 years Carol (Bonkoski), a son and daughter in-law Joseph & Debbie, a daughter and son in-law Cherie & Burt Beeman and a beloved grandfather of Desirae, Joseph, Thomas, Lindsey & Zachary.
Friends and family may call at the Barlow & Zimmer Funeral Home, 202 Stockton Street, Hightstown on Wednesday from 4pm to 8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10:30am on Thursday at St. Anthony of Padua RC Church, Hightstown. Burial will follow at the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hightstown, NJ.
